Italy, Circa 1940's

A beautiful and highly decorative 1940s Murano glass pendant chandelier by Barovier & Toso, designed with four elegant glass light cups, a sculptural oval glass frame and a warm brass suspension structure. Refined, romantic and unmistakably Italian, this chandelier captures the glamour and artistry of mid-century Venetian glassmaking.

The chandelier is arranged around a clear ribbed Murano glass oval, with four matching glass shades set at the corners. Each shade has a soft shell scalloped form, catching and diffusing the light with wonderful brilliance. The clear glass has a crisp, luminous quality, while the brass frame adds warmth, depth and a graceful sense of age. Being an original vintage piece, it may show slight signs of time, which further contribute to its charm and authenticity.

The curved brass arms rise to a central stem, balanced by the elongated glass ring below. The scalloped upper glass canopy and small crystal-like drops add a final touch of Venetian sparkle, giving the piece a quietly luxurious presence without feeling overly formal.

Produced in Italy circa the 1940s, this pendant reflects the enduring heritage of Barovier & Toso, one of Murano’s most celebrated glassmaking houses. It is a wonderful statement for a dining room, hallway, bedroom, dressing room or boutique interior, bringing together Italian craftsmanship, Art Deco elegance and heritage Murano glass design.
