C.1940's

A handsome vintage Art Deco wooden standard lamp, circa 1940s, designed with a tall square column in contrasting two-tone wood and raised on a stepped cross-form base.

The use of darker and lighter timber gives the piece a refined geometric quality, very much in keeping with late Art Deco design. The base is particularly attractive, with layered block feet and a strong architectural form that gives the lamp presence while retaining a warm charming character.

The wood appears likely to be walnut or stained walnut, with lighter contrasting sections possibly in beech, maple, satinwood or oak, though the exact timber is unconfirmed.
